Our town has long been defined by its working-class culture, colourful characters and rich heritage. As times change, the Hunter continues to cultivate individuals and groups that are both nationally and internationally acclaimed, across a wide spectrum of fields including art, design, music, sport, business, conservation and everything in-between.
To celebrate Steel City's first birthday and our region's modern working-class culture, we recently got together an eclectic group of Novocastrians to share some beers, snap a few photos and hear about some of their experiences growing up, living and working in the Hunter Region.
While their backgrounds, passions and areas of expertise vary, the group bonded over their mutual love for the lifestyle and special place they call home.
We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our first birthday than to enjoy a few cold ones with these passionate and hard-working individuals, who make this place what it is.
Regardless of who you are or what you do, this is our Steel City and this is our beer.
